About
There must be a reason why people buy our screen doors and storm doors online each year. It's certainly faster to drive down to the local hardware store or home center to pick up a cheaper door there. Here's Why...
How did a Fine Furniture Company get into the screen door business? It's true Howerton has made a name for itself crafting fine handmade, heirloom-quality furniture (if you're in the market for that, visit our other website, Howerton Furniture). We have been in the furniture business in Clarksville, Virginia - right on the North Carolina border - since 1926. One of our neighbors here in town was The Old Wagon Factory, owned by our friend Jim Massingill. The Old Wagon Factory was a local institution, originally started in 1860. They didn't make wagons anymore, but they did produce excellent quality all-wood screen doors. Unfortunately, the business world is tough and The Old Wagon Factory ceased operating in 2001. We talked with Jim, the owner, and he agreed to sell us the full set of Old Wagon Factory screen door plans and drawings. Other competitors cleverly bought the Wagon Factory domain name and now explain that they make doors that are similar. And indeed they may. But only Howerton Doors has the original drawings and plans, and only we can produce doors that are exactly the same in design and quality. Our Pledge To You My wife, Donna and I have owned Howerton Fine Furniture since 2005. We take pride in continuing the tradition of craftsmanship, and quality customer service that distinguished Howerton's and The Old Wagon Factory in the past. We look forward to serving you well into the future. - David Hallberg |
